SuperTux

SuperTux is a free, open-source two-dimensional platform game. The game was originally created by Bill Kendrick and is maintained by the SuperTux Development Team....

 Game Description

The game was inspired by the Nintendo Super Mario series. Instead of Mario, the hero in this game is Tux, the mascot of the Linux kernel (and the game's only reference to Linux). Many of the in-game graphics were created by Ingo Ruhnke, creator of Pingus.

The development occurs in a series of milestones, each one improving steadily upon the last. Currently, only Milestone 1 has been released; however, there is a preview release for Milestone 2, Milestone 1.9.
In 2008, SuperTux was used as a game for children by school district #73 in British Columbia, which had decided to transition to open source software.
The game was scheduled to be included in the release of the EVO Smart Console as of April 2009.

Punto Informatico described the atmosphere of the game as pleasant and praised the free availability of the game. Free Gamer criticized it for a lack of originality and a sharp variance in level difficulty.
